Sustainability Exchange Program

Centre for Environmental Education (CEE), Thaltej Tekra, Ahmedabad

Amazingly an opportunity arose in early November 2018.  It was to travel to India as part of a group of students from Central Queensland University (CQU) to participate in the sustainability exchange program for two weeks doing the course BIOL12050 Professional Placement.  Judith Wake from Mackay CQU campus was the designated lecturer of the course and trip.

My first reaction was this sounds great, what a wonderful prospect and that I had never travelled to India before.   Talks with my partner about financial issues and the chance to go were discussed a number of times.  In the end it was possible, then the planning had begun.

In the weeks leading up to the trip to India many factors had to be completed such as obtaining a student loan, e-visa, vaccinations, medical check up, research, packing and so forth.  Luckily I live in Mackay because Judith had to help me with a number of issues, I visited her on campus and we solved the issues so that I was able to go on the trip. I was excited and anxious at the same time but I knew this was meant to happen.
